I'm Akshatha.

I work to understand user needs and engineer contextually appropriate technological solutions for diverse communities across the world. I approach complex social problems with empathy, creativity, and data.

Currently, you will find me at Stanford learning about learning. I study education, human-centered design, and entrepreneurship so I can design and implement solutions that go beyond what people thought they needed.

My desire to learn from people drives everything I do. I LOVE working with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures to find interdisciplinary solutions to problems. Please do reach out to me if you feel my work and vision align with your personal/ organizational goals. I am always on the lookout for meaningful opportunities and collaborations.

EDUCATION

WHAT I CARE ABOUT

Innovation

"There's a way to do it better- Find it"  - Thomas A Edison.

I'm always hunting for local solutions to local problems. Innovation, in my opinion, doesn't always have to be an expensive endeavor. I believe that by finding new solutions to existing problems or even discovering problems that people might not know they have, I am improving their lives. I am innovating.

Education

India has an incredibly low teacher-student ratio, particularly in rural areas. Poor infrastructure and unqualified teachers create a predicament for socio-economically deprived groups, who can not afford private schools. Schools I work with neither have electricity nor English speaking 'English teachers.' I firmly believe that education is the answer to the greatest challenges we face as a society. I am constantly trying to advocate the motto -' Each one, teach one'

Inclusion

Only a shocking ~5% of top CEOs are women.
I strongly believe in women and minorities receiving equal treatment and equal opportunities. My work with ACM-W, Girlscript Manipal and Women Techmakers is an effort to increase the involvement of undergraduate women in technology. I also try to incorporate technology in the school curriculum I design, to empower the next generation of girls so they may become tomorrow's leaders in STEM.
